University Scholarships
RACET provided its first university scholarships to three students who graduated from our supported secondary schools in 2017. With the success of the various initiatives RACET has put in place, many more students are now passing their university entrance exams with increasingly high marks and are being offered university places. Twenty students are currently in receipt of full scholarships and are mainly studying a variety of subjects including biochemistry, medical technology, accountancy, and environmental science at The Federal University of Calabar and Cross River University of Technology, Calabar and at other campuses in Cross River State.
RACET also provides cost effective housing in Calabar for the students and a range of measures to support their learning and well-being as, for some students, the move from village life to the city can be daunting.
In return, the university students are role models for the school students in their home villages and operate a mentoring programme in the RACET Learning Centres to encourage them to complete their secondary school education.
We would really appreciate your support to sponsor these highly deserving young people. They are breaking the cycle of rural poverty not only for themselves and their families but are also bringing back into the community much needed skills and resources.
