Educational resources are very scarce in this part of the country, both within schools and across the wider community. In order to improve the quality of education, RACET funded the establishment of the Sir Brandon Gough Learning Centre and library at Ntrigom and was very fortunate to receive grant funding from The British and Foreign School Society to establish a Computer Centre at Mfuma school.

As the university entrance exams in Nigeria JAMB (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board) are computer based tests, most students passing nationally are from wealthier families in the cities. This leaves students from rural areas at a significant disadvantage as over 90% of state schools do not have computers, even though computer studies are now part of the Nigerian national school curriculum. It would have been impossible for the schools we support to satisfy these basic curriculum requirements without RACET’s assistance.
